Chrysler’s SRT brand has released another teaser image of the 2013 Viper, this time showing off the interior of the new snake-themed supercar. This image is taken from a vantage point atop the dashboard, showing a red leather seat, a chunky shift knob for what looks to be a six-speed manual transmission, and what appears to be a sizable grab handle for someone seated shotgun.
Today’s image follows on an earlier teaser that showed the exterior of the 2013 Viper, and also the release of the new car’s Stryker emblem design. Of course, we received an even better idea of what the SRT Viper looks like thanks a series of spy photos, along with a leaked image of a Hot Wheels replica of the new car.
The 2013 Viper should retain the basic shape of the old Dodge Viper; said to be designed after a beautiful woman laying on the beach, expect the car to use a long hood, wide rear fenders, and small greenhouse found on the prior Viper. Under the hood, a massive V-10 engine will return, this time possibly displacing 8.7 liters and producing as much as 650 hp. A six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel-drive will remain the only driveline layout. Fortunately for the timid, the 2013 Viper will adopt electronic stability control for the first time.
We’ll learn more once the 2013 Viper makes its official debut next week at the New York auto show. For more on the 2012 New York Auto Show, including videos, the latest photos, and more information, click here to visit our 2012 New York Auto Show homepage.
